This is because it's square edges and the manner in which it can be split into the required height, depth or length make it more practical than laying other natural stone products. Celtic grey cropped slate walling stone is very versatile and will give the appearance of an older 18th-century farmhouse. It is found in the fabric of some modern houses as well as being a favourite with historical restoration in older buildings. Celtic grey cropped slate walling is hand finished on the front and back faces with sawn ends. It is a very popular product with both clients and stone masons, because of its clean edge and unlike all other stone, it is capable of being split longitudinally into flat blocks. The hardest, most dense slate quarried in the British Isles and dark blue/grey in colour that keeps its colour without weathering oxidation. It is sold with 100mm on bed, with a tolerance of +/- 25mm.
